In 1992 Jean Aspen, daughter of Arctic adventures Constance and Bud Helmericks, returned to the Alaskan wilderness, land of her childhood. Along with her husband, young son, and a woman friend she set out to share an audacious dream. Alone for fourteen months, the family filmed their struggles and triumphs as they gained a foothold in Alaska’s remote Brooks Range. This is a story of relationships and family values, of inner courage and simple joys.
