Jon has Down Syndrome

The Teachings of Jon

Jon is 40 years old and profoundly affected by Down Syndrome. He can’t talk, has an IQ of 20 and earns less than thirteen dollars a year. Although it may appear that he will not accomplish much by conventional standards of measure, his greater purpose is to teach others how to love. This documentary, The Teachings of Jon, was created by his sister and celebrates Jon as he IS rather than focusing on changing Jon to fit into the world around him.

The Eskimo and the Whale

Explore the strength and courage of Inupiat people struggling to preserve their subsistence whaling culture in the Arctic regions of Alaska. Challenged by hostile weather, intricate international politics, the potential opening of ANWR and off-shore oil exploration, Inupiat whalers remain as resolute as their icebound ocean.

The Eskimo and the Whale captures the abstract arctic light and uses it to illuminate a beautiful corner of our world.
