A 360 North Special

Honoring the Former First Ladies of Alaska
A 360 North Special

Alaska's First Gentleman, Todd Palin, will celebrate the 50th anniversary of statehood at a tea in honor of the former First Ladies of Alaska.

360 North will join the former residents of the governor's mansion in their former home. Events during the broadcast include lunch with the First Gentleman, a reception with the First Spouses and the Capital City Celebration committee, The First Ladies' Tea and a tour of the governor's residence.

Watch the event on 360 North.

Programs May Be Preempted

There are less than ten days left in the current special session of the Alaska legislature. With the clock ticking and important issues and votes to be decided 360 North will preempt regularly scheduled programming whenever necessary so we can keep Alaskans informed of the activities in Juneau.

When meetings run later in the evening, we will present them in full. As the legislature extends hours into the weekend we will broadcast those proceedings, as well. Gavel to Gavel Alaska will continue to present on 360 NORTH the most extensive coverage of Alaska government available.

Grant for Specials

Capital Community Broadcasting has been awarded a grant to bring special programming to 360 North.

The Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority has provided 360 North with funding to acquire and broadcast mental health-related public broadcasting programs.

A portion of the funds will be used to produce local follow-up programs and provide Alaska resource information tailored to Alaska viewers. This partnership with The Trust compliments the 360 North mission to provide Alaska public affairs and information material to our statewide audience. These programs and other new public affairs initiatives will be scheduled for broadcast through the coming fall and winter.

Audience Research Results

Since 360 North went on the air last December we have been conducting audience research with the help of Hays Research Group. Our most recent statewide poll included many questions about programming and viewing habits.

With the ongoing special session of the legislature in the forefront of many peoples minds, we thought we would share some of the information Alaskans told our pollsters about Gavel to Gavel Alaska government coverage.

When asked if they had heard of Gavel to Gavel Alaska, 49 percent of respondents said yes. That's almost half of the people in the state.

When asked if they had been following legislative coverage recently, almost a quarter of the people had been watching special session coverage.

We use information we receive from viewers to craft future program schedules and plan for new projects. We would like to hear from you. If you would like to make a comment about programming, suggest a topic for future shows or provide your opinion about 360 North please send an email.

360 North Changes Satellites

Are you experiencing an outage of the 360 North service?

On July 1, 360 North changed the way its signal gets to our viewers across Alaska. When completed this will allow people in more communities across Alaska to watch the popular 360 North programs.

If you are looking for 360 North and can't find us here are a few things you can do:

-If you watch by cable, you can call your cable company. All of our cable partners are switching their systems over now.

-If you watch over-the-air with a digital television receiver in the Anchorage area, keep your set tuned to 7.3 and we will be back on shortly.

-If you are seeing instructions on your television, they are intended for satellite operators. You do not need to change the tuning of your set unless you have your own satellite dish system. This should not affect Dish Newtork or DirecTV viewers.

-If you have additional questions and don't know who to ask, email us now and tell us where you are and how you usually receive 360 North. We will forward your information along to those who can be of help.
